To the memory of Wilmeck McWell (mka. Ken Maxwell)
To Those Who Will Remember
Again we mourn the passing of a goodly friend.
His wit will grace us no more in this realm.
However, keep him we in memory until the end,
A man of strong arm and doughty in his helm.
Robbed are we of his friendship flowing.
Bereft too soon, are all what loved this man.
His kindess was of him the undoing,
Though heroes blush at the deeds of his hand.
Cry aloud now and weep your river.
This time is at hand for us every one.
Yet often recall this friend we shared ever
And company will he still keep with us along.
See him we will in memory and dreams
For no one truly dies to those who will remember.
The time to our reuniting is but a pebble amid stream
'Til together we may live for always and forever.

February 22nd, 2003
Since arriving with his older brother when he was barely old enough to fight, Wilmeck sought always the prosperity of MELEE and upheld it's ideals.
Wilmeck gave his life during February of 2003 as a consequence of his effort to call for assistance to aide occupants of a burning house. His willingness to do the right thing cost him his life, but very likely aided in the more timely arrival of emergency services which prevented the destruction of evidence and ultimately led to the conviction of the killer of the occupants and Wilmeck himself.
Without doubt, it is a terrible thing for a life so young, and with so many prospects, to be snuffed out as it entered it's prime. However, Wilmeck lost his life in a manner consistent with his honorable attitude towards life and helping others, and he will be remembered as a strong, brave friend. Regardless of your faith, the wisdom of John 15:13 seems appropriate...
"Greater love hath no man than this,
that he lay down his life for his friends."
In memory of Wilmeck, Anneliese Tiberius (mka. Crystal Remy) coordinated a "Penny Drive" among all MELEE factions during 2005. On Saturday, February 19th, all extant factions agreed to participate in the drive starting February 26th and ending at MELEE's Known World War VII on September 24th. The objective of the drive will be to raise money for the Little Light House and for the donation to made in memory of Wilmeck. The terms agreed-to by the factions will reward the faction with the most pennies with two additional "Victory Points" towards MELEE's Faction of the Year ACI XXIV.
Good luck and God bless you all.
