Born the youngest of 3, Orianna of Locksley longed to join her brothers as Knights Templar. Growing up she trained hard to prove her worth with a sword. Her dream was not to be...at least not how she thought. By the summer of 1313 the Knights had been disbanded, and by spring of 1314 the last Grand Master of the Templars was to be put to death for Treason against the Church and Crown. Ori (as she was called by her friends) followed her brothers to Jacques DeMolay's execution, unbeknownst to her that fateful day would change her life forever. Consumed by grief and anger at the death of their friend and comrade, her brothers Kade and Cyril swore revenge. Ori joined them and together they joined the remaining templars onboard a ship called the Black Star. Their deeds gave birth to Piracy. Aboard the ship Ori earned her keep and her skill with a sword became legendary. On the eve of her 26th birthday she was conferred the title of Shieldmaiden, a great honor and an acknowledgement by the rest of the men that she was indeed an equal to them. Shortly thereafter the Black Star was attacked by a naval ship under the control of the Pope. A mole had revealed their plans of revenge to the pope and he sought to destroy them all once and for all. The battle raged for several days, each side sustaining heavy casualities. In the end the Black Star was destroyed. Orianna washed up upon a beach among the debris. Weeks of searching went by and it became painfully clear to the Sheildmaiden that she was the sole survivor. She made due as best she could, earning her keep as a sellsword, a mercenary, her sword to the highest bidder. By late fall, Ori found herself in a new land. She found her way to the capitol known as the Duchy of Broknarra and met several warriors unbelievably all from different time periods. It was here she met a samurai by the name of Akuma. Impressed by her skill with a sword he took her under his wing and helped her adjust to her new surroundings. The two became inseparable and eventually fell in love. A year later to the day of their first meeting the pair married. Today, the Shieldmaiden lives to aide others and in doing so better herself and bring glory to the Crown and peoples of Broknarra.
