An except from the Journal of Zero Crane, Broknarran Champion.

"One dark night, while walking through the woods; lost while wondering from village to village; Zero and Alucard saw some lights in the distance. Zero decided they should venture toward the light for they had gone without food, water, and shelter for days. On the path towards this village a discussion of religion came up, Zero was without faith in any god or deity, but Alucard was a follower of Baal, the Lord of Destruction. Baal is the eldest brother of the three prime evils of this world. There is Baal, the Lord of Destruction, Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, and Diablo, the Lord of Terror. Just as Zero had finished explaining that he would follow whatever god actually showed him their power or divinity, The brothers Crane were attacked by a group of spearmen. The brothers had absolutely no problem taking them down, but just as the final blow was struck, Zero took an arrow to the leg. Alucard quickly noticed that archers from all sides surrounded them. Alucard threw his shield to Zero and told him to cover himself with it. Zero quickly did so. Alucard broke into a frenzy, proving that he was to par with his brother in combat. Alucard had struck down all of the archers in a matter of seconds. Alucard then dragged his brother behind the cover of a bush and they both began to rest. Due to a combination of pain and loss of blood, Zero had passed out, Mephisto then appeared to him in a dream and proclaimed his strength and cunning, and made an offer Zero could ultimately not refuse.

Zero woke up with the wound in his leg completely gone and quickly awoke Alucard to tell him of the dream. Zero and Alucard once again continued down the path to the county of Nicholshire. When Zero and Alucard finally arrived they were abnormally greeted with a welcome into a faction of barbaric Norsemen; the rest of the county was not as accepting on the other hand. Within a matter of months the brothers were ostracized by the common folk for all of the evil acts they had taken part in. Baal, Lord of Destruction and sovereign to Alucard then called upon the brothers. He told them of a stone that was located somewhere nearby; this stone had the power to relinquish Baal from hell. The only problem was that he knew not the location, for the Arch Angel Tyreal had hidden it so that Baal and his brothers would never see the light of day again. So the brothers Crane asked around until Lord Baltac Lowleaves told them the location of the stone; or so they thought. The brothers soon traveled to the city of Roses where the stone was said to be. They did find a stone, it was broken into many pieces and had to be re-assembled at a forge located up in the woods. With the help of a group of cultists, the brothers had gathered all the pieces of the stone, and simply had to make it up to the forge, but the cultists had been slain by a group of orcs who also made their home in the dense foliage. The brothers were then betrayed by the townsfolk and seized. Eventually they escaped and fled for Nicholshire.

Word had traveled and the people of Nicholshire did not like what they had heard. Upon their arrival a committee of knights and nobles

confronted the brothers and told them that they were not welcome. The brothers refused to leave until threatened with violence from an army, which they could not themselves defeat. On their way out, they saw Baltac Lowleaves, who's pudgy ass was laughing uncontrollably in

that jolly way that can only be achieved by a fat man. The brothers knew immediately that Baltac had deceived them, and Zero vowed revenge upon him.

After a few weeks traveling, Zero and Alucard had heard of Broknarra, which was where their Norse friends currently called their home. Alucard met a female (and was eventually married) and Zero decided there was something that he must do. Mephisto soon again visited Zero in a dream, telling him to venture to Kurast where he would receive training, and fulfillment. Zero journeyed throughout the marshes of Kurast until he found the dungeon where Mepshisto was sealed. He then entered to receive his special training from Mephisto. Zero stayed down in that dungeon for months upon months, and finally returned with a new fire burning inside of him. Zero had received the training, but he still lacked

the feeling of fulfillment that Mepshisto spoke of. Zero appealed to Mephisto, and received absolutely no feedback. As he was boarding a ship to travel to Broknarra, he was brought to his knees by the sight of a woman. She was the most beautiful being to grace the earth. Zero went to talk to the woman and it was decided that she would travel to Broknarra with him, but her father was stricken with illness so she was forced to tend to him. Zero decided it would be best if he stayed too. He felt a longing for battle after Mephisto's training, but he felt a stronger longing to be with this woman, Nora. He stayed and it was decided that they were to be married. Zero then set sail for Broknarra, vowing to return to his love whenever the opportunity presents its self (which turned out to be quite often). Zero then set sail to the distantland of Broknarra, where his brother awaited him.
